3rd Battalion/Squadron |
![]() |
This section presents a list of the 14th Cavalry Association members who served in the 3rd Battalion/Squadron in the period 1948 - 1972. After the list it provides links to photographs of troops and scenes of operations and places many of which are remembered with great pleasure. If you are a veteran of the Regiment visiting this site for the first time we hope you will chose to join the Association
Members are listed in the order in which they joined, and the units (company/troop/battery) in which they served are listed in sequence following their names. In the "Link" column at the right the entries "email" and "relay" identify the individuals to whom we are able to pass email messages directly or via a friend. We can forward snailmail to ALL of the men listed here. Members desiring to contact a veteran who is not listed can add his name to the standby list which is crosschecked each month with the list of new members joining in that month.
Members who agree to have their email addresses posted in the open and wish to hear from from others who served with a particular unit of the Regiment are listed on the message board. They are identified by the entry "mboard" in the "Link" column below. Members who have a personal webpage can elect to have the address of that page linked to their line, in which case the entry in the "Link" column will read "web" rather than "email".
New troops are added to this list at the next update (usually within 15 days) following receipt of their application for membership in the Association. Please check your entry when it appears and let us know if corrections are needed.
New or changed email address should be sent to the Secretary
of the Association. Change of postal address should be sent to
Secretary,
14th Cavalry Assn., P.O. Box 57, Ivy, VA 22945 or by email the Secretary.

Are you in contact with a former member of the Squadron who is NOT listed here??? If you can contact him by email please send the address of this website and encourage him to join the Association. If he does not have email please print a copy of the membership form and send it to him by regular mail.
If you desire to gain contact with a former member of the Squadron who IS listed here note the channel (email/snailmail) by which he can be contacted. Then click INTERCOM for procedure.
If you would like to hear from troops who served with you in the Squadron and exchange recollections about those times you can make your interest known via the MESSAGE BOARD. This board also serves as a means to request help in contacting friends who are not listed here.
For those of us on the Suivez Moi Committee it is a major reward to
see some of the letters that pass thru the relay system from men who
served
in the Regiment and consider that service a most valuable part of their
life. With the permission of one of the writers and his former
troop
commander we would like to share with you one such letter between two
former
members of your Squadron. Letter
PHOTOGRAPHS:
Jon Fabian has produced an excellent collection of photographs showing
the Squadron's troopers, operations and "environment".
(click
here). Jon served in K Troop as a scout and tank gunner from
1967
to 1968. His collection includes photos from both earlier and
later time. There is room for more and contributions are
encouraged. They can be sent to him by email.
Some additional photos are listed in the table below in
chronological order. Photos taken in the recent years are
identified by entry in
last column (Yr).
Some photos of interest to all units of the Regiment are posted in the regimental collection. Others associated with an item on the bulletin board or with a particular history page are directly linked to that item/page.. A collection of photos taken 1987 along the border in all sectors between Czechoslovakia and the Baltic Sea can be seen at this link..

We encourage the contribution of photographs that can be of
interest
to the troops with whom you served and their families. In
particular
we would like to show scenes of field training and border operations
and group photographs in which individuals can be recognized. (For
groups of more than ten it is usually difficult to achieve the level of
resolution that will
support
individual recognition within
the space available on the web.)
If you have a scanner
your photos in jpg format attached to email can be sent to us at 14acr@14cav.org or
cjfab@smta.cc (For
collections of more than three photos it may be better to send on disk
by regular mail.)
(1) In the text of your message please give the time (date, month or season) and location of the scene as well as you can recall. If the scene is on the border the location can be given in terms of general direction and distance from a village or OP that troops will probably remember.
(2) It will be helpful if you give your message the Subject "Photo 3xnn". Make "x" the letter designation of your company/troop and "nn" the year that the photo was taken.
If you do not have a scanner your photo prints can be sent to
14th ACR Committee, P.O. Box 57, Ivy, VA 22945.
or to
Jon Fabian, P.O.Box. 179, Sherwood, OH 43556
Let us
know
if your prints should be returned.
